Our values

Oxford Insights' core principles

At Oxford Insights, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of our staff, the communities we serve, and the environment we all share. Below, we present the six core values that define our organisation.

Health and wellbeing at work

Ensuring the health and wellbeing of our employees is a high priority at Oxford Insights. Members of the senior management team have, in previous positions at other organisations, experienced ill-health which were attributable to workplace stress, and have seen the impact of workplace stress in colleagues and family members. Since its incorporation, Oxford Insights has strived to create a working environment supportive of staff mental health, work-life balance, and overall wellbeing. We are committed to meeting the six standards set out in The Mental Health at Work Commitment.

Equal opportunity

We use an anonymised recruitment process, advertise widely, and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. First round interviews are CV blind. This helps to assure that we are not being unintentionally biased in our hiring practices by favouring candidates who have attended prestigious universities or who are able to take low paying internships. Shortlisting, interviews and selection are done by a panel whenever possible to avoid cultural bias.

Applicants and staff receive equal treatment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. Beyond this we openly support staff in all the above and are proud of our non-judgemental and accepting team culture.

Education

We fully support our staff’s desire for career development through further education. Staff who wish to reduce their hours to combine work with study are openly supported and encouraged. We also have a dedicated budget for career development training.

Social responsibility

Every year we make a charitable donation of 1% of turnover, and staff select and shortlist the charity that we choose to donate to. Last year, we donated to Respect, a charity working to stop domestic abuse across the UK. This year, we are donating to World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to people directly affected by humanitarian, climate, and community crises around the world.

We actively seek out socially responsible and beneficial projects, and encourage our employees to pursue projects close to their hearts and principles. We often work at discounted rates and implement flexible pricing for charities, NGOs and organisations pursuing social value on tight budgets. You can find our current modern slavery statement here.

Entrepreneurship, growth, and business creation

We believe that an organisation that has diversity in the profiles, backgrounds and opinions of its employees will be better placed to represent the diverse interests of its clients and the public. This summer we are welcoming an intern from City, University of London—which ranks third in the LSBU Social Mobility Index 2023—to offer opportunities and diversify our routes to recruitment.

Environmental sustainability

Oxford Insights is a Net Zero organisation, and every year we invest in a project to offset our company’s carbon emissions. This year, we offset 21.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide through Carbon Footprint. We have a cycle-to-work scheme, which subsidises bicycle purchases to encourage employees to choose greener travel options. We also are a fully remote company, fostering a virtual work environment that reduces environmental impacts. We prioritise sustainability by encouraging eco-friendly technology choices and responsible resource usage with our employees.
